Compliance Update
Social Security Wage Base Remains at $106,800 in 2010 The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced on Thursday, October 15, 2009, that the 2010 social security wage base will be $106,800, unchanged from 2009. As in prior years, there is no limit to the wages subject to the Medicare tax; therefore all covered wages are still subject to the 1.45% tax.
The FICA tax rate, which is the combined social security tax rate of 6.2% and the Medicare tax rate of 1.45%, remains at 7.65% for 2010. The maximum social security tax employees and employers will each pay in 2010 is $6,621.60. This is unchanged from the 2009 maximum.
The social security wage base for self-employed individuals in 2010 will also be $106,800. There is no limit on covered self-employment income that will be subject to the Medicare tax. The self-employment tax rate remains 15.3% (combined social security tax rate of 12.4% and Medicare tax rate of 2.9%). In 2010, the maximum social security tax for a self-employed individual will be $13,243.20. This is unchanged from the 2009 maximum.
The growing number of people making over $106,000 is growing at such a fast rate that it is hard to obtain any hard facts or numbers. Beibg a Christian man I believe that it is the duty of the wealthy to help the poor and middle class in retirement. Didn't Christ mention that it would be hard for a wealthy man to get into Heaven? For the good of the souls of Wealthy Americans I ask for this cap to be moved to at least the $5,000,000 figure ,therefor allowin g many more of the wealthy to enter the gates of Heaven while at the same time helping SSI and Medicare keep up with todays costs. Two problems solved.

Two Classes
Democrats or Republicrats, Tea-Partyers or Independents, it does not matter. These issues are all about classes in society. This country is fast becoming a country of two classes: The rich "haves" who will lord it over everyone else and the poor "have nots" who will have to make do with what ever crumbs fall down ("trickle down") from the rich man's table. The class separated society transcends race, gender, creed, color or anything else. Working people of all races need to stop bickering among themselves and really start looking at the real problem. On a world wide level (including the US) working people are slowly being reduced to the level of indentured servants. It took years to gain some sort of decent life and it will take years to get it back. I feel sorry for my children and their children.

Here I go for the tenth time ! Please listen.
Again Republicans want to loot SS and Medicare to finance their corporate entitlements. When will people in this country catch on to it? When will they understand that the GOP is only in to redistribute money to the top?
People who receive Medicare and SS paid infor 40-50 years every month. The programs started preparing for the Baby Boomers' retirement decades ago. This didn't just come about now.
The reason why these programs choke is because of out of control medical costs, which are 100% higher than in any other civilized country, because we allow a predatory industry to manage our citizen's health.
It is also because of misappropriation , which is another word for "theft". The Feds take money under Fed. budgeting rules out of the SS pot, and invest it in other projects, like into the war in Afghanistan. If a life insurance company would do the same thing, it would go broke too. SO it is not the system that is bad it is how the system is being played.
If left alone, Social Security will have a $4.6 trillion surplus by 2023. It can pay out all scheduled benefits for the next quarter-century with no changes.
So, senior citizens, if you don't like low SS paychecks, and receiving coupons for a new heart valve, think twice if you check ( R) on the ballots in 2012. You might just sign your SS and Medicare away, so Republicans can once more lower taxes on the upper 1%, who are already paying 10% less in Long Term Capital Gains taxes than a an average family man on his paycheck.

I give up !
The Senators from the South have been telling their base that if elected again, Obama will lead us toward Socialism. They say that this is the time in our History to stand up and fight to keep America free.
Here is the truth. We agree here in the blue states, that the federal government is far too generous with our tax dollars, particularly as they are funneled to nearly all southern states. Most northern states receive .75 per tax dollar paid, which means for the southerners trying to figure out why the government is in debt that you don't pay your fair share in taxes, or you're overtaxing the rest of us for your state's shortfall in your own tax base.
Grow up and read a few things before you listen to all your leaders who seem to be listening to the echo of another era - James Blackbird.
Perhaps we should just take over some of these insolvent states and turn them into profitable ventures.
Honestly I think my head is going to explode listening to the arguments commong from thr Taxed Enough Already Party when everyone knows that taxes are at their lowest point in years. I give up !

Torture, or do I have to watch the Guiding Light ?
I have been struck by the idiocy of the recent discussion of the value of torture in questioning suspected terrorists. Lets explore the meaning of the word for the purpose of discussion in this piece.
Torture, according to the United Nations Convention Against Torture (an advisory measure of the UN General Assembly) is:
The Bush administration tried to get around the law by trying to say that waterboarding is not torture. If all the facts were presented in court they would be proved wrong. It seems moronic to even have to have this discussion. The facts are that some of our leaders are guilty of breaking both U.S. and international law. Waterboarding by our Government makes our country look just as bad as the people we are fighting.
Please no more talk of waterboarding being needed in this fight. If we use it we lose.
Torture, according to the United Nations Convention Against Torture (an advisory measure of the UN General Assembly) is:
Many Americans do not know that tortue was used by both Germany and Japan as a questioning method during WWII. Waterboarding was the methoud most often. Every civilized nation in the world agrees that waterboarding ,for the purpose of interrogation,is classified as torture. I would like to remind readers that the U.S. actually tried and hung enemy soilders for using this method on American soildiers. Every civilized nation in the world has laws against torture even the United States....any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him, or a third person, information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in, or incidental to, lawful sanctions. --UN Convention Against Torture

Go to Texas ! (HELL ON EARTH)
Bush is upset that he is not getting any credit for helping get O.B.L. He thinks the President is taking to much credit and not giving enough to others, how quickly history is trying to be revised!
From the transcript of Obama's speech announcing the raid that killed OBL:
"• Over the last 10 years, thanks to the tireless and heroic work of our military and our counterterrorism professionals, we’ve made great strides in that effort. We’ve disrupted terrorist attacks and strengthened our homeland defense...
• Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community...
• Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome....
• We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day...."
It doesn't sound to me as if he neglected to give credit where credit was due.
Compare and Contrast that with GWB landing on a carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" hoopla. Where Bush is the epitome of hubris, Obama is the epitome of measured response. This spesks to the ingnorance of the former President. To him I say GO TO TEXAS,and stay there !

Enough said !
"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
