Wake up America!

House Republican Tea Party on Thursday unveiled plans to cut federal money for job training, heating subsidies and grants to better-performing schools.

Defunding that which is critical for the future to prop up the wealthy Wall St. criminals is unproductiveand adverse to any economic recovery. Try cutting the bloated military budget. The US spends 700 billion while the

If House and Senate Republicans truly were concerned about the federal deficit and were taking an even-handed approach, they would rescind the disproportionately huge tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy that have added significant strain on the national budget since implemented during the previous administration, strip the fossil fuel industries and other corporate entities of their tax breaks and subsidized funding, cut back further on unnecessary defense contractor programs, and eliminate tax-exempt status of all politically-active religious organizations.

Poliomyelitis:

Poliomyelitis:
A highly infectious viral disease that chiefly affects children and, in its acute forms, causes inflammation of motor neurons of the spinal cord and brainstem, leading to paralysis, muscular atrophy, and often deformity.
In 1952 Dr.Jonas Salk started testing a Vaccine for this disease.  In 1955 testing began on humans and seemed promising. In 1957 a World wide effort was started to vaccinate all children in an effort to stop the spread of this disease.
I remember the nurses coming to my school to put a sugar cube into our mouths containing the vaccine.  I took it but it was much too late to help me. In the late summer of 1954, at the tender age of seven, I contracted Polio, as it was called.
It was the Sunday of the last holiday of the summer, Labor Day, and we were all outside playing on the stoop and rolling down the hill in our front yard.  I remember it like it was yesterday. We all played with the knowledge that in a couple of day’s school would start.
The next morning I woke up with a headache, stiff neck, and a slight limp in my left hip. My mother took me to the local clinic to see a Dr. They checked me out and told her that I must have hurt myself playing the night before. They sent me home.
The next morning I woke up and had to call my mother because I could not lift my head from the pillow or even get out of bed at all.
Off we went to the E.R. where the Dr. performed a spinal tap and determined that I had a case of Bulbar Polio that was also in my spine. The Bulbar referred to my brain stem.
I was transferred, by car, to Saint Elisabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. I remember not being able to move much as I lay with my head in my mother’s lap in the back seat of our car. I told her not to worry because I had little pain and felt things were not that bad.
I spent seven days in isolation without any visitation from my parents. My dad was allowed to view me through a glass window. My mother was pregnant with my sister and was told not to go to the hospital.
After the seven days I was moved to a ward with other boys that also had polio. I had little feeling and had sand bags attached to my shoulders in an effort to keep them in place. They wanted to move up toward my ears why? I don’t know. My legs and arms also had sand bags attached to them in an effort to keep them straight and elongated.
I had to lie on my back all day long except when I received physical therapy or received my three shots each day. Every night they would lay me on my stomach and place a hot wool blanket on my back for some reason. I was also taken for a whirlpool bath every other day. Although I had little pain I also had little movement because the polio was in my spine.  I also had bulbar polio in my brain stem that could have affected my breathing. There were days that they thought they would have to put me into an Iron Lung.
I was told later that I did so well because I never cried for my mother like other kids did. They said I told the nurses that my mom was going to have a baby and if she came to see me the baby could die. I also told the nurses that after I left the hospital my dad was going to buy me a brand new red bike of my choice!
I spent six long weeks there and was released in the middle of October. I had to stay in bed most of the day because I had little strength. I was able to return to school in Feb. of that year. I was in the second grade.
My mother tells me that I came back a different child. I was weak, skinny, and my personality was not the same happy sure child I was before.
When I look back on the whole affair I must admit that I was never scared or worried. I did what the Doctors told me and never complained. I was never the alpha boy or leader I was before I got sick.
On a positive note I did get that bike from my dad. I have to thank my mom for praying for me every day, my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jack for watching me when my mom had her baby and my Father George. He came to Youngstown to see me every night after work. He must have been tired but he never left me alone. He came every night.
Well, that’s my story and I ‘m sticking to it.

What to do ?

Oh no ! Obama is mad and is not going to take it any more. He has decided it is time to fight the Republicans. There's a big difference between talking big shots and taking big shots. Nearly 3 years into Obama, Goldman Sachs still runs the economy,  private health insurance rates are rising fast,  wealth inequality continues to grow, the crippling W tax cuts are still 100% in force,  he has not even tried to do anything about the "culture of lobbying in DC" that he brayed about in 2008,.

Those darn people.

America still has a lot of conservative Christians and they believe in things that simply can't be, while not believing in things that are rationally demonstrated. Unfortunately, those folks are easily manipulated by those who know which buttons to push. They are a gold mine for those politicians, media people, political parties, corporations, and churches that will unscrupulously exploit them for profit. I think some bloggers call them Sheeple.

The Republican right denies global warming (among many other things), yet they are pro-military and many would increase defense spending (despite the massive amounts we already spend on defense).

The military has said for years that global warming and the problems it is causing and will cause are of great concern. The US high command considers global warming a critical issue.

Unbelievable that people like Perry, Bachman, Paul, Cain, to name a few could be considered legitimate candidates for this country's highest office. Their theocratic, ignorant denialism would seem to make them not just incompetent but unable to act on behalf of American's best interests.

I'm not sure which is the greater short-coming: lying about climate change because BIG OIL or COAL is paying you tons to do so and you have no conscience, or refusing to believe it because it doesn't fit your religious dogma and you have no mind. In 1994 we saw seven tobacco executives lie to Congress, saying nicotine is not addictive when they knew full-well that it is. Anyone who imagines for a moment that oil and coal companies won't do whatever they can to preserve their profits and avoid fines, limits, or lower sales, doesn't understand the mind of far too many business executives these days - or of the investors who support them. Of course, with support like Fox News, even the tobacco companies might have avoided things like non-smoking rules, bans on TV commercials and stricter warnings on labels.

I guess the rest of the world community is wrong and the U.S. is right on this issue just like those darn people from Iraq that flew those planes into the World Trade Center.

Two faced people.

It seems to me that science hasn’t had issues with religion and as a result it has co-existed with religion quite peacefully. Throughout history it has been religion that has gone gunning for science even threateningg, jailing and executing those who went against the ideas put forth in the bible. Science isn’t infiltrating and invading churches to push THEIR agenda, it’s the other way around!

Every advance in the human condition is attributele to science. Religion is stagnant and based on a willing disregard of rationality and an embrace of the supernatural - with no evidence to support its claims except the writings of men some 2,000 years ago during the Bronze Age. Did religion give you flight by jet? Did religion give you distributed electricity? Then again, religion gave us human sacrifices, the Inquisition, 9/11, Islamic martyrdom and jihad, and the rape of children in a worldwide scandal it tried to cover up. Yeah, that's the avenue where I want to draw my personal philosophy of human existence from. ,

It seems to me that people today are scared to speak against religion. They are scared of what people think of them of scared of their jobs. Once I went to each Science teacher in my school and asked them how they thought the world started. You could smell the fear coming off of them. People are still scared of religion and afraid to speak their mind. I am not and could give a crap what people think. I think Religion offers people more pain and misery than hope and love.

I have read posts from friends who spout the grace of God out of one side of their mouth and whine about programs designed to help the poor out of thr other. It seems that a lot of church are two faced. It is important to them that you believe like they do. I sometimes feel they think they are superior .

Dirty tricks ,again.

Don't vote for the GOPTea if you're....

A woman — they're taking away your rights and health care state by state
Retired — they want to privatize (abolish) Social Security
Sick — they want to voucher-ize (abolish) Medicare, Medicaid
A student — they are defunding education, student loans
A teacher — they’re laying you off
Education — they’re closing schools
Gay — they're taking away your civil rights
A worker — they’re taking away your right to collectively bargain
A union — they’re busting you state by state and in the House
The Middle Class — they want to raise your taxes
Unemployed — they blocked unemployment benefits and will obstruct any Jobs Bill on the table
The Earth — they’re striving to abolish the EPA and de-regulate oil, coal and nuclear power corporations even more than Cheney did…

Welcome to the GOP's first move toward reinstating Jim Crow. Poll Taxes were prohibited by the Voting Rights Act and the GOP is reinstating it with this legislationn. This is the same GOP that opposes the 14th amendment as it relates to voting rights. Voting is a Right that citizens have that is being taken away by the GOP. The GOP claims it is not a right but

Sunday Sermon.

I think the common thing that differentiates believers from skeptics is this notion that accepting something by turning off your intelligence and choosing to believe in something despite a complete lack of evidence or logic is somehow a virtue.
Believers have been conditioned by the churches and religious authorities to accept that “faith over intelligence” is actually a good thing.
I disagree. Believing in something for no good reason is not only foolish, I think it would be contrary to the will of any creator, if one happened to exist. To believe that a god created us with an intellect, an ability to reason, a curiosity to discover and learn the truth, and then to accept that he wants us to put all that aside and accept a lot of bat-shit crazy stuff purely on “faith” just wouldn’t make sense, not with free will .
Hate to tell you, you don’t have a “personal relationship” with Jesus any more than Osama Bin Laden had a “personal relationship” with Allah, or Caesar had a “personal relationship” with Jupiter. It’s all in your head.

I do not care what people believe in but take offense when our political leaders tell us that prayer will help our country,or that America is favored by God. What a hunk of shit.  Oh I may change my mind tomorrow because I have free will.  Shit happens and who knows what I will believe in tomorrow.

I do hope that God would be a better being than the one our churches portray. I just can't wrap my head around some vengeful God. What did I ever do except try to do my best.

Cuts to Medicare ? Not the whole truth .

The national health care reform law  made several changes to Medicare, which makes up roughly 12 percent of the federal budget.

In a few cases, the law actually increased Medicare spending to provide more benefits and coverage, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a trusted independent source that analyzes the health care system. For instance, the health care law added money to cover prevention services and to fill a gap for enrollees who purchase prescription drugs through the Medicare Part D program. (That coverage gap is often referred to as the doughnut hole.)

Other parts of the law are intended to reduce future growth in Medicare spending, to encourage more efficiency and to improve the delivery and quality of care. (An example is paying hospitals less when patients are quickly re-admitted to hospitals after being discharged, to prevent people from being discharged too soon.) This practice happens all thr time. I happened to me after my neck surgery. I told them I knew somethinfg was wrong and had to be readdmitted one week later.

The bill doesn't take money out of the current Medicare budget but, rather, it attempts to slow the program's future growth, curtailing just over $500 billion in anticipated spending increases over the next 10 years. Medicare spending will still increase, however. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projects Medicare spending will reach $929 billion in 2020, up from $499 billion in actual spending in 2009.

So while the health care law reduces the amount of future spending growth in Medicare, the law doesn't cut current funding for Medicare.

Bachmann and other Republican candidates say that, "We know that President Obama stole over $500 billion out of Medicare to switch it over to Obamacare.

We need to hold our news reporters to a higher standard - to report the information needed for voters to make an informed decision.  Now, they mostly act like handicappers trying to predict the outcome of horse races.  If there is anything of value being mentioned in news reports, it gets obscured, pushing most voters away and who then fall back on the catchy slogans and glitzy hype, and worse, the smear tactics honed to a razor's edge by the current Republican machine. I am sorry but our media needs to stop candidates in their tracts when they tell lies and untruths about issues like Medicare.

Ride like the wind !

It's been two years sinse I crashed my bike. I had a new Felt racing bike that weighed a little under 19 lbs dressed.  I was racing down a hill at 30 miles an hour when my tire slid and sent me flying. I landed face first into a trunk of a tree while my very expensive bike landed in a bush unharmed.  I ,on the otherhand, smashed my face ,nose and cracked my helmet. My riding glasses shattered and I required stitches on my hand. My face and neck were brused and battered.

I recovered except for my neck . The MRI and MRA showed severe damage to the c4,and c7 cervical vertebrae .  My neck hurts all the time with little relief.   I just ride a trail bike these last two years. I would like to get the courage up to strap into my shimano ultegra pedals and race again. I miss the speed and power I had going up large hills. I miss out riding men much younger. I still oil and clean my bike  and think "today will be the day I ride like the wind"

One can only hope !

It's with a heavy heart that I find myself  reflecting on. 9/11 .  It was a despicable tragedy perpetrated on the US by fundamentalist extremist cowards. The victims of that day, the first responders who have suffered since and their respective families and loved ones should be remembered and honored (and in the case of the first responders, given any and all health care needed!!).

But in the great American political tradition of "let no crisis go to waste," 9/11 has been used as an excuse for further unnecessary atrocities. The unnecessary war in Iraq and it's related fleecing of the US treasury (i.e. Haliburton, the MIC), the "Patrio!t" act which took away citizens' rights to privacy, Gitmo and torture were all justified by the tragedy on 9/11.

Do you remember how just about every politician constantly dropped the term "9/11" in the years following 2001? I sure do. They knew that just the mention of the tragedy would elicit a pavlovian-like tug of the heartstrings. And it should - 9/11 was a horrendous tragedy. I still remember vividly everything that happened and how I felt that morning with my kids at school. But that does not change the fact that 9/11 has been misused as an excuse or a motivation or a smoke screen to commit atrocities that otherwise would never have been allowed.

Those conservative commentators still don't get it and never will. Giuliani's only claim to fame was 9/11 and to base his Presidential bid on just that fact goes to prove just how many dumb takers there are. Bush is totally in a class by himself. A shoot from the hip mentality and stubborn as all get out he rates a Gold Star for doing such a good job in getting us into this mess.  Those who refuse to recognize that fact are doing their Country an injustice by not speaking out and instead ignoring the facts. 9/11 is a reflection on how this Country was viewed by those who flew the planes and all on board into oblivion. No one talks about the fact that the U.S. by its very actions and interference in particular Countries has resulted in extreme hatred for everything the U.S.stands for. This was prior to 9/11 and continues to this day. This tragedy has been used time and time again for political gains and to instill fear in all Americans and therein lies the real tragedy. The U.S. simply reaps what it sows and it never seems to be a lesson learned.

Please take the time to learn a little history by reading about the U.S. involvement in the Mid East since the discovery of oil.  I only hope that if there is a vengeful God he will not only punish the 19 fundamentalist extremist cowards guilty of 9/11 but all royal princes .and their families, along with every outsider who have exploited the people of this region.  One can only hope.

What a bunch of Smucks !

If you really want to be knowledgeable about something - then learn about it.

If you want to know more about protestantism, then do your research and look up the history.

If you want to know more about Catholicism, then study the doctrine. (I recomend starting with the Catechism)

Will it take you a long time to research in order to get a further understanding and knowledge?.... YES. But what is time in the course of knowledge ???

I am Catholic, and it is sad to see how many misconceptions - I'm talking REALLY skewed misconceptions about the Catholic Faith that go around, even from other Catholics and ESPECIALLY from other Catholics.

Protestants - before arguing against and slamming the Catholic Faith do research... a LOT of research!

Catholics - KNOW your faith so that you will be able to defend it!

The first Christians were JEWS and still practiced Judaism. I think what some Catholics are trying to say is that Catholics follow the apostolic succession - meaning, our lineage stems back to the 12 apostles, and namely, Peter, who was the first pope. That is why many catholics think they practice the one true religion.
Many Protestants believe that Catholics worship false idols because we pray to saints or Mary.
Religion can really be confusing I an trying to read 1,200 pages of a book called Christianity by Diarmaid MacCulloch. I am up to the part where the Christian religion comes to Rome and the western world. Believe me it is very detailed and very confusing to understand. I would not listen to some two bit Priest or preacher trying to explain Gods wishes to me.
I guess I an trying to say that people should practice or not practice any faith they want to and not worry about others beliefs less you have studied the history of the Christian church in detail. Otherwise you all just sound like a bunch of smucks. Parroting what others say is foolish and shows ones lack of the ability to think and reason .

USPS !

The United States Post Office (USPO) was created in Philadelphia under Benjamin Franklin on Wednesday, July 26, 1775, by decree of the Second Continental Congress. Based on the Postal Clause in Article One of the United States Constitution, empowering Congress "To establish post offices and post roads", it became the Post Office Department (USPOD) in 1792. Until 1971, it was part of the Presidential cabinet and the Postmaster General was the last person in the United States presidential line of succession."

I've heard of conservatives saying that the postal office should be privatized...

How come the constitution is literal when its for something they want, but the things they do not like that are clearly spelled out in the constitution are ignored

I don't know why people complain about the post office so much? I find it is cheaper and faster than UPS. Federal express is faster when you do the overnight services, but it is so expensive. What do people want, to pay $20-40 to federal express all their mail? Americans should move to another country to see postal services in other countries, before they critize the US. I think our post office is the best in the world. Our Health Care, now that's another story.

There are reasons that the USPS has cost overruns.

1. USPS .

This is some crazy shit !

I had to re post this crap in an attempt to illustrate that some American Christians are just as closed minded and dangerous as some Muslims.

From the Pages of the Rutherford Reader.......

Murfreesboro, TN:

Christianity is superior to all other forms of thought and we are not to tolerate our inferior Muslim neighbors.  In fact, they are all out to get us.  It’s a conspiracy.  They are planning to take over and force an antiquated system of religious laws upon us.  They hate us.  Their mission is to the overthrow of the United States Government.  They hate our way of life.  They’re taking over and nobody is doing anything about it.  We must stop them from building a place of worship.  We must stop them before they gain too much control.

We must hold parades where we march against them while screaming out Bible versus through megaphones and waving American flags.  We must file lawsuits to prove that Islam is not a religion and therefore they have no rights as a religion.  They can’t be trusted with rights because they‘re not real Americans.
We must hold each and every one of them accountablee for what happened on 9/11 because each and every one of them is a potential ticking time bomb, waiting for the day they get the word from the Imam that it is time for Jihad.
We must let our children know that all Muslims lie, that this is part of their religion and that they are never to be trusted.  They are lying foreigners trying to force their foreign ways on us.  America is a Christian nation founded by Christian men based upon Christian ideals.  God bless America.

This reminds me of the rents of one Ass hole Hitler pre WWII.

Piss Poor.

Today I would like to write about the great way the media and our political leaders tell us lies about Social Security every dam day. They tell us that Social Security will not be there for our children. They will even tell us that Congress has raided the fund over the years for other projects.

What they refuse to tell the public is that all that money Congress borrowed for other projects, wars and tax cuts, was secured by Government securities and T-Bills.  They refuse to let the public know that all that borrowed money must ,by law, be paid back into the trust fund.  In plain language the trust fund is secured for at least 60 yrs.

Congress does not want to the public to know these facts because they do not want to raise taxes or cut Defense in order to pay their obligations to working Americans who paid into the fund their whole working life. The American people are not smart enough to read between the lines to get at the truth.  The Media is keeping it'south shut, and our political leaders see a windfall of money they can spend any way they want.

This is a great way to treat workers who paid their taxes their whole working lives .  Here, take this bone and choke on it you dumb ass holes.

Sorry for all my bad language but I just watched the Republican debate and got sick at all the lies and half truths coming out of their pie holes.

Piss Poor

Piss Poor. This is the term I choose to use for the way your politicians and news media address the Social Security short fall this year. Both will tell the public that the system needs more money . Both will tell you that Congress has raided the system for years to help with budget deficits. What they won't tell you is that all that money Congress borrowed is secured with Government Bonds and Securities. In fact, Social Security is not in any trouble at all. It is as healthy as a world class runner. Congress has other ideas that they wish ti spend your Social security funds on. Tax cuts for one,and defense spending for another. If you,the public, are too stupid to grasp this fact you deserve to be screwed by your leaders. I for on am fit to be tied at the ignorance of the American worker. I am sickened at the negligence of the news media for letting this lie linger on and on. I would say WAKE UP ! American workers but too many you are going to Wall mart today to buy more goods fromChina. Oh well ,what the hell. Every great country has declined through out history and I guess our time is upon us. Don't fret though because the Rapture is coming and we will all be saved !

The Socratic Method.

It is striking that the people who most dislike the whole idea of healthcare reform - the ones who think it is socialist, godless, a step on the road to a police state - are often the ones it seems designed to help.
In Texas, where barely two-thirds of the population have full health insurance and over a fifth of all children have no cover at all, opposition to the legislation is running at about 87% . Huh ?

Why are so many American voters enraged by attempts to change a horribly inefficient system that leaves them with premiums they often cannot afford?
Why are they manning the barricades to defend insurance companies that routinely deny claims and cancel policies ?

They do it because they resent having their interests decided for them by politicians who think they know best.

There is nothing voters hate more than having things explained to them as though they were idiots.
As the saying goes, in politics, when you are explaining, you are losing. And that makes anything as complex or as messy as healthcare reform a very hard sell.

It's like a French Revolution in reverse in which the workers come pouring down the street screaming more power to the aristocracy.

When I have political discussions with people I always try to use the Socratic method.  This is a form of inquiry and debate between individuals with opposing viewpoints based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to illuminate ideas.  If you let people see the truth and light on their own your point will be made.

President Obama has yet to learn this lesson and tends to preach to voters on ideas and programs intended to help them. Thus is a big mistake.  President Clinton never talked down to people but let them come to their conclusions by them self. President Obama seems just too smart and knowledgeable on issues. This is a big mistake on his part.

When I discuss issues with people I try to just ask questions on their position and then slowly try to make them look at the issue in a slightly different angle. This method helps me get my point across without offending others with my facts of opinions.

A scientific theory !

Lay people often misinterpret the language used by scientists. And for that reason, they sometimes draw the wrong conclusions as to what the scientific terms mean.
Three such terms that are often used interchangeably are "scientific law," "hypothesis," and "theory."
In layman’s terms, if something is said to be “just a theory,” it usually means that it is a mere guess, or is unproved. It might even lack credibility. But in scientific terms, a theory implies that something has been proven and is generally accepted as being true

In general, both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole. Both are used to make predictions of events. Both are used to advance technology.

The biggest difference between a law and a theory is that a theory is much more complex and dynamic. A law describes a single action, whereas a theory explains an entire group of related phenomena. And, whereas a law is a postulate that forms the foundation of the scientific method, a theory is the end result of that same process.

Some scientific theories include the theory of evolution, the theory of relativity, the atomic theory, and the quantum theory. All of these theories are well documented and proved beyond reasonable doubt. Yet scientists continue to tinker with the component hypotheses of each theory in an attempt to make them more elegant and concise, or to make them more all-encompassing. Theories can be tweaked, but they are seldom, if ever, entirely replaced.

Lets put this to rest once and for all. the Theory of evolution In indeed a FACT .

Why do they hate Obana so much ?

Nost of the anti-Obama crowd play loose and fast with the facts. Most of these ranters have no concept of Obama's policies, of what debt he inherited upon taking office (approximately $10 trillion) or how nearly $3 trillion in additional debt accrued since his inauguration is attributable not to his policies, but wars in Iraq and Afghanistan begun before him, to a Drug Prescription program,Medicare part D ,instituted under Bush, to Wall Street bailouts approved under Bush, and to a stimulus bill which in part kept 40+ states of 50 from catastrophic budget woes.

There is a very vocal Republican minority, perhaps 20% of the electorate, which
laps up the most  contrived lies, distortions and maliciously leaked rumors of every importand Democrat in power. These are the sources of those rumors that  the Clintons were guilty of murders in Arkansas and of his Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown and Vince Foster, the sources of the absurd distortions of Senator John Kerry's military record in combat, the sources who accuse Obama of foreign citizenship and muslim faith. It has been this ugly for quite awhile. Republican precinct worker during the 1960 presidential election accused Democrat John Kennedy of treason, murder, and secret communist sympathies, among other crimes.

If you take the time to trace the source of these rumors and lies, inevitably you arrive at a website, such as the REPEAL HEALTH CARE ACT, which is running all those "sign the petition" ads on TV featuring former Arkansas Gov. Huckabee, where no identifying information of who is behind the group or who is funding the ads can be found. World News Daily is another GOP lie machine prominent in launching false attacks on Obama and other Democrats.

A lot Republicans are racists. They think the White House should only have white Presidents. It's that simple. Of course, they will deny it. A lot of their racism is subconscious, so I don't believe they're all aware of it. I myself have family members that say things like "I don't think the Black and White races should get married."  Or "they mess up a neighborhood and drive house prices dowm."  Or , my favorite "this used ti be a nice area before the Blacks took over "

Private Education a good Idea ?

Yes, the Republicans are PRIVATIZING everything and America LOSES when they (GOP) do that.

1)Republicans privatized Pensions and gave us 401K's - how much money did 401k's lose in 2008?

2)Republicans privatized our Military - how much Taxpayer money did those Private Military Contractors siphon - $18 Billion of Iraq Oil Money is STILL mission, $60 Billion missing inPakistan and the list goes on.

3)Republicans wanted to privatize Social Security - how much money would people have lost if Social Security had been privatized during 2008

4)Republicans want to privatize teaching - not for better education - but so they can hire teachers for LESS MONEY --- Teachers are currently UNDERPAID Extra money will go into the pockets of the companies.

5)Teachers give rise to "our future" -- Teachers taught the guy who invented the heart transplant, Teachers taught the guys who flew the first airplane, teachers are behind every single major invention ... yet Republicans do NOT want to pay teachers what they are worth ... instead they want teaching to go to the "lowest bidder"

Some things just should NOT be privatized: Military, Pensions, Social Security and teaching should NOT be privatized.  Public schools made America great by educating all students. They give rich, poor, middleclass, handicaped, and immigrant students the same chance to become great.

My take on the Iraq War.

Why did the U.S. attack Iraq ?  George Bush ,and his administration, would have the public believe that this war was a war on terrorism.  That it was a war on the terrorists that attacked the World Trade center, the Pentagon, and took over Commercial flights that day.

The facts point to Iraq having nothing or little to do with these terrorists attacks.  All 19 men that attacked the United States that day were members of al-Qaeda. 14 of them were from the country of Saudi Arabia and the sect of muslims called Wahabis. This was also the sect that their leader,Osama bin Laden, belonged to.

Osama bin Laden always said that debt brings down empires. That was a stated goal of his. He knew that to bring down the United States they had to ruin us financially.

Remember that terrorists have little power to make any change without the power of fear. They have no armies other military power. Their attack that day was made by 19 men wielding box cutters. Yes,boxcutters.

The responce by the Bush Administration seemed ,at the time, a little of an overreaction.  The U.S. attacked Iraq,a country with no connection to the attacks on 9/11. Over the last 10 years the U.S. has doubled the size of our defense budget . 6,500 American soildiers have been killed. 65,000 have been wounded. Only God knows how many innocent Iraqi men, women and children we have killed or maimed.  We have destroyed their cities and way of life.  We have spent over a trillion dollers so far on this foolish war. Why ?  Why did Bush di it. I have my own opinions why.

The main reason for the US invasion of Iraq was to gain control of Iraq's oilfields (so as to keep the oil in the ground and drive up oil prices), to establish military bases in Iraq from which to dominate the Middle East and eventually (by controlling oil supply) to establish control over all countries dependent on oil, and (most important to the neo-cons Wolfowitz, et al.) to remove the threat to Israel posed by Iraq.

Of course there were also other reasons.
After control of the oilfields the next most important reason for the US's takeover of Iraq was that Iraq had begun to accept payment in euros for its oil, opening the way for all major oil producers to do this. Were this to happen then the euro would probably become the world's reserve currency, not the dollar. This would have a major negative impact on the US economy (would, in fact, cause the collapse of the US economy) and would also severely reduce its ability to pour money into its weapons programs. By gaining control of Iraq's oil the US can now refuse payment in euros, thereby maintaining the dollar as the reserve currency.

War is always good for the companies that profit from it.
Halliburton, Exxon Mobil, and General Dymanics to name a few.

I could go on and on but what's the point. If my blog is too long no one will read it. Hell,no one will read it anyway. I will post a link to Facebook .ust for fun.

The China Syndrome .

For many years now businessmen in the West have out sourced manufacturing of goods to Asia where labor was much cheaper as with all production overheads. Communist China took the biggest advantage and opened up its borders and adapted themselves to be the main port of call for those that needed cheap labor.
U. S.  companies and entrepreneurs took advantage of what was offered in China. China took advantage and improved their infrastructure to become the main manufacturing base for the world.  Large profits where made in the West and by China, but of course the West’s manufacturing base shrunk considerably.
Unemployment rose but was controlled because of the natural adaptation of the market place that became more service based to selling cheap products from Asia mainly China.  The biggest problem has been  money flowing mainly one way to China and China increasing its manufacturing output in its drive to improve its infrastructure and modernization of China.  A huge trade imbalance was the result. Eventually the bubble burst and  the housing and property market collapsed due to failure of people and business being able to keep up with their housing and property loans.  When the last domino actually fell, the World  saw one of its biggest recession’s.  US bank securities became practically worthless.

The real problem is the fact that the West has very weak manufacturing bases and the solution is that these bases need to be strengthened and that can only be done by making China a less attractive place to have goods manufactured.
USA  has seen this problem worsening within the last decade and has failed to stop cheap goods crossing our borders.
The only option for the U. S. is the of manufacturing goods at home which will decrease unemployment and stabilize economies.
China of course will shout and rave, but will wish to keep a sensible slice of the world market. The Chinese are not stupid.  But if the West does not take action now, that to me at least will look to be stupid, stupid, and more stupid.

Obama smacked a heavy tax on tires from China, could this be the first sign that the USA is waking up to the real solution to a very tricky problem and the real need to kick start manufacturing at home?  I doubt it. Companies like Wall mart have too much money from the current arrangement to let their bought politicians agree with any legislation that will restrict Wall marts business deals with China.
It will be up to the American People to boycott their addiction to goods from China by not shopping at Wall mart. Will this ever happen. No! I fear people are just too dumb to take charge of their own situation and would rather just listen to political leaders bought and paid for. The end is near my friends. The great American experiment is about to come to an end.
