To vote or not to vote!

I find myself in a quandary this morning.  I am watching a rerun  of city council on the local access channel.  The city needs more money to continue it's current level of operations.  They are asking for an additional 1/2 % on income taxes paid by citizens who either work or live in Salem.  My retirement income is not taxed hence  my dilemma. Should I vote to increase a tax on workers when I myself, do not have to pay  this tax.  As of now I plan on leaving this box blank on my ballot.  I think it's the right thing to do. I wonder though how many retired voters will vote to increase taxes on workers.  I do hope that this issue passes.  I know that the city needs the revenue.

  1. Is this extra tax mostly for safety personnel?

  2. It is to be spread accross the board for all Depts. Since the Safert Forces take the biggest bite out of the budget I assume they will receive most of the increase.
