The health care system in the United States is bring our country to it's knees. The percent of our GDP that goes to Insurance companies and medical providers is by far the highest in the world. Until or unless we tackle this problem we will continue to have budget issues.
During the health care debate of 2009-10, there was very little attempt to explain this issue and discuss the options. The administration made a halfhearted move in this direction but backed away as soon as leading Republicans began to claim there were “death panel” proposals on the table
Health care costs will top $8,000 per person this year, consuming an ever-bigger slice of a shrinking economic pie, says the report by the Department of Health and Human Services. Yes you read right! That is over $8,000 per Man Woman and Child weather they are sick or not. You do the math. That is 312,000,000 times 8,000 = $2,496,000,000,000 !!!!! I am tooo scared to out this number into words! Medicare on the other hand only spends about $3,500 per person . Remember that people who are oner 65 need much more medical services than younger. We could cover every person in this country for around $2,000 dollars a year with a National Health Care system ! That is one forth the cost. Our money is going to the wealthy Dr.'s and Ins. Co. that make money off of the current system. WHY WHY WHY ???
