I wonder if most people really know how wealth is distributed in this county. If not, there are two sites that contain some depressing pie charts.

Click on "Wealth, Income, and Power" and page down to the pie charts. In terms of net worth, the wealthiest 1% had 35% of the net worth; the next 4% had 27%; the next 5% had 11%; the next 10% had 12%. The poorest 80% of people had only 15% of the net worth. The values are from 2007. Since most of the increase in wealth in the last few years has gone to the already wealthy, it is probably more skewed now.

Go to "Data & Statistics" and click on "Wealth Inequality". Page down to the pie charts. The values are similar to those at the other site. However, stock market ownership is also included. It is more depressing.I know and accept the fact that there are always rich and poor, but the vast accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few people is very disturbing.
It bothers me that wealthy people can go to church, look down their noses at the dirty poor and still claim the moral authority. How can they go to church and still support policies that favor the rich over the poor. Would Jesus agree with this?
