I received a call from by Representative Bill Johnson
(Republican) how he is working, on my behalf, to pass the Ryan budget and save
Medicare. I spent a few days gathering
some stats to write about the subject. He said, in his recorded call that if I
was over 55 I need not worry. My Medicare would not be touched. Their Voucher
system would only affect people 55yrs of age or younger. These proposed
vouchers would be around $8,000 and paid to the Insurance Company when a
retiree bought one of their health plans.
After the call I started to find stats that compared what
the Gov. Pays now for Medicare per person and what they would pay with the new
voucher system. I looked up studies that commented if seniors could even afford
a health care plan in order to claim their voucher discount. I actually had a
large blog planned for this week.
Today I changed my mind. If people 55 and younger can’t take
the time to care about their future why should I. I get tired of writing about issues no one
seems to care about. The news said the Majority of Americans were against the
Affordable Care Act. I wondered why? Surly they could not have looked into the
provisions and protections of this bill.
Today I don’t have the energy or the will to try and
convince a group of younger people what is good for their future. As long as My
Medicare is not changed I say that starting in about ten years these people
will have to live with their indifference. I wash my hands of this issue.
Voters can believe the GOP. They can cry later.
