The terrorism directed against the US is a result of the terrorism that the US has conducted against peoples and states around the world is a statement uttered by the Reverend Wright. Please believe me he really took it on the chin for that little bit of freedom of speech. No news agency deemed it relevant to point out that the man has been a leader in his community for years and also served his country for seven years in the Marines and Navy. Let's take a look at what he was talking about from my point of view.
Some claim our efforts in the Mid-East are about safeguarding our security. Actually,in my opinion, they are about much more than that; they are about securing our right to continue to meddle and interfere in distant regions in order to maximize our profits, and secure other monetary advantages. Yes I am talking about oil and gas. You don't see us meddling in Syria. Why? Could it be they have no oil.
The greatest tragedy of all is that Americans have been lied to for decades. Many of you know as well as I, that we were lied to in Viet Nam. The lies kept the war going for what seemed forever.
In these respects, many Americans still seem to be clinging to the doctrine of American exceptional ism. We can terrorize, manipulate, dominate, invade. We can even murder hundreds of thousands of civilians, as in the cases of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. There's a mega twin towers for you.
As has been said, there can be no "effect" without a "cause." What happens to us is a result of our actions. We feel the pain of 911. What we don't feel and aren't aware of, is the pain felt by hundreds of thousands of Iraqis whose world was turned upside down by our invasion, and who have been slaughtered in the tribal conflicts that we re-opened by going there, The sad truth is that we feel no responsibility for invading the wrong country. The men who flew the planes on 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia one of our allies. We were lied to then and they keep lying to us today. The truth is harder to find than gold today. These are just my thoughts and opinions and do not distract from the job our brave men and women have done or what they have been through. They deserved better from their leaders. Three to five tours in a combat zone! Really
